You’ve heard it time and time again. These are unprecedented times. Uncertain times. Of that, there is no question. Personally, I’m tired of hearing that. Because many of us need possibilities, options for what to do right now, not confirmation that things are stressful. We know times are tough.
Not everyone is experiencing this in the same way.
So, I’m offering options for how you can get the care you need and I’m open to other suggestions.
While I’m opening up in-clinic treatments again, including most of what I was offering before the pandemic (except microcurrent facial rejuvenation), I recognize that this isn’t good timing yet for some. Perhaps you are immunocompromised or high risk, have a close family member or friend who you spend time with who is immunocompromised or high risk, are experiencing anxiety about the pandemic, can’t find child or elder care help, or have other reasons not to come to the clinic. But, you may still need help for managing your health and keeping yourself well.
Option 1: Telehealth
Thankfully today’s technology offers some possibilities. The program I use to do my charting, the one you can use to manage your bookings with me, now has an integrated and privacy-compliant videochat program. When you book in an online appointment, you will receive an automated email 30 minutes prior to your booked time with a link to sign in shortly before your appointed time. I also try to sign in a bit early so I can resend your link to your email address about 5 minutes in advance of your time. (If you want to see more how-to information about how to do the online appointment, click here.)
During your appointment, we can see and hear each other, so it’s all very similar to an in-person booking, except you get to maintain your distance and don’t need to leave your home. One challenge is that sometimes technology is glitchy, so know that there are always backup options of another videochat system or phone call, if needed.
Distance appointments allow me to prescribe you a customized (concentrated powder) or pre-made (tablets) herbal formula, provide nutritional and supplement guidance, offer lifestyle recommendations, teach you some acupressure points, and show you how to use some TCM tools I can send to your home. These TCM tools include tiny no-pain press needles, ear seeds, jade roller, and cups and oil for cupping. Check out my videos for more info on those.
To book in an online consultation, check out my booking site here. There are 30-minute, 60-minute, or 30-45-minute with home kit options.
Option 2: Mobile Acupuncture
If you need acupuncture treatment, but aren’t comfortable with coming into the clinic, I may be able to see you at your home. One ideal way to do this if you have the space and weather permits is outside in a yard. I can also come into your home and will take precautions of wearing a mask, wearing clothing that I wear only to your place, and frequent hand washing or sanitizing.
Either way, I ask that you make sure you set up a space where you will be comfortable, and that you have pillows and coverings to keep you supported and cozy. I will not be bringing a massage table. While I will need to be within 2 m of space from you when I’m treating you, I also ask that I be able to maintain 2 m distance from others in your household during my visit.
This option is available within Vancouver, but special consideration may be made for nearby areas if I can manage the time and with an extra fee.
