This is the 2nd of my video blogs. This one covers the topic of stress management. No doubt, this is only scratching the surface because stress is a HUGE topic, especially in times like now with the COVID-19 pandemic and so much uncertainty.
Stress management at home
I treat stress every day. Whether that’s the main reason someone comes in or it’s secondary, it affects many of us and negatively impacts our health. Stress can crank up the volume, aggravating already present health conditions. When we are stressed, we don’t think and plan well. We find it hard to concentrate. It makes us tired. I can impair our sleep, our digestion, our hormonal function, and our immune system’s ability to fight infection and not our own bodies. It can amplify our pain, anxiety, and depression.
In other words, it’s important to find ways to manage your stress.
Because I cannot see patients in clinic, as I usually would, using acupuncture to help calm the nervous system, I’m offering ways you can treat yourself at home.
In this video I show you acupressure points you can use to self treat. (Sorry about the awkward positioning to try to show you those points! The last point I couldn’t show you easily was top of foot, but it’s Liver 3/LIV3/LV3/taichong).
You might also want to note that there are phone and video consultation options for helping to manage your mental health and this is a valuable tool. Telemedicine reduces mental health burden of COVID-19, study finds.
Tools and herbs you can use at home
I mention a few tools you can use at home:
- Press needles
- Swarovski ear crystals with gold-coated metal ball pressure point stickers
- Ear seeds
I also mention some supplements/herbs.
Contact me if you’re in Vancouver, British Columbia and want to learn more about how to get those.
I’m also offering online Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultations (for now; during the COVID-19 pandemic) to discuss your situation and how I can support you. Book online here activetcm.janeapp.com or contact me if you have questions.
