Sleep is a thing we are often short of because either we don’t allow ourselves enough shut eye or because we cannot make sleep—full, deep, restful, restorative sleep—happen.
If you aren’t allowing yourself enough snooze time, know that it’s important you do. I used to be the type of person who actually disliked sleep! I felt like I was wasting my time. While I still prefer to be up and doing stuff, I now realize and respect the value of enough zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs.
Being deprived of the restorative time that sleep gives us can greatly impact our health, leaving us with more inflammation, less time to heal, unwanted weight gain, higher levels of stress, poorer ability to perform during our waking hours, greater likelihood of making mistakes, and even risk a shorter life.
I imagine that if you’re reading this, you’d like to get more sleep, but find it oh so elusive.
In this video, I give some tips for things you can do at home to treat and perhaps rid yourself of insomnia. I start with some acupressure points, talk about some basic herbs and supplements, and end with lifestyle recommendations.
