Welcome back to Active Life Health Clinic's February newsletter.
Looking for some R&R?
Find some rest and relaxation (and health!) with reiki and reflexology! Visit Active Life Health Clinic
for our R&R Open House Day Monday February 23rd from 2-6 p.m. Book
a time for yourself and maybe a friend. It's a great Valentine's Day
gift! Read below for details as these practitioners are fantastic!
While
you’re in the clinic, check out our new stainless steel no leak
tea bottles. Regularly $18, for February we’re offering them for
only $15. No excuse not to make sure to drink your customized Chinese
herbal formulas when you can take them on the go!

And, speaking of (ok, writing of…) customized herbs, if you have any of your used
customized herb bottles, bring them in so that we can wash and reuse
them. That’s the 3rd R for this “R” themed month:
Reuse.
And,
what letter comes after “R”? “S”, of course,
and “S” is for sauna. If you’re looking for a way to
get warm, detoxify, increase your metabolism, relieve pain, get rid of
a cold, and improve the health and appearance of your skin, then far
infrared sauna sessions are your solution. Until the end of the winter,
or until I run out of tea bottles, whichever comes first, I will offer
1 free stainless steel tea bottle for every package of ten 30-minute
sauna sessions (for $200). For more info about the benefits of far
infrared sauna, click here.
Finally, do you know someone with asthma or other lung
challenge? On February 22nd I’m going to climb 48
storeys at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre to raise funds for the
Lung Association of BC. Join me on this wonderful challenge (it sounds
scary, but apparently the average climb time is only 10 minutes) or
donate to this important cause. To join the climb, contact me (drcarr@activetcm.com). To donate, you can do so at my clinic or go directly to the website at BC Lung Association.
Thank you for your support!

Why? A chance to relax and work on your health. What could be better?
First, what are reflexology and reiki?
Reflexology
Reflexology
is a non-invasive therapeutic treatment applied to the hands, feet and
ears using finger and thumb massage techniques. It is based on the
premise that there are reflex points in the hands, feet and ears
corresponding via nerve pathways of the nervous system (Western
Medicine) and/or meridians (Eastern Medicine) to every part, organ and
gland of the body. By massaging the feet, hands and ears, reflexology
stimulates the body to return to optimum health.
Reiki
Reiki
(pronounced ray-key) is made of two Japanese words - Rei, which means
“God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power”, and Ki, which is
"life force energy". It is a Japanese holistic, light-touch,
energy-based modality that re-establishes a normal energy flow of ki
(life force energy) throughout the system. This can then, in turn,
enhance and accelerate the body's innate healing ability.

About the practitioners:
Helene Decarie, Certified Registered Reflexologist
Helene was certified in 2003 by the Academy of Natural Health Science
in Ottawa and has been professionally practicing Reflexology since
2004. Born in New Brunswick, in a French speaking community, she comes
to us with knowledge of the body’s inner workings and energy flow.
Helene believes that Reflexology offers insight to what your feet and
hands reveal about you and your health. Her goal is to genuinely help
people. She wants to bring awareness to and educate people about
Reflexology and its use as a tool for deeper relaxation and wellbeing.
Experience more happiness and less stress as you treat your feet.
Cara Harper, Reiki Practitioner/Personal Coach
Cara has been helping people rediscover, clarify and achieve their
dreams for as long as she can remember, both independently and in the
career development field. A firm believer that every one of us has all
of the brilliance, creativity and power within to achieve their
greatest dreams in life, she sees her role as that of a guide and
facilitator in the self-discovery process.
Cara uses creative activities, intuition, and visualization to create a
safe, supportive, and fun atmosphere for those who work with her. She
is also a Reiki practitioner (Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress
reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing), and finds that
this technique helps clients with focusing and centering their energy
on what they truly desire.
Mandy Cohen, Reiki Master, Intuitive Healer, Life Coach
Mandy is a Reiki Master and intuitive healer with 17 years experience
in healing practice. Mandy also holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology
/Art and is a Life Coach.
Her interest in holistic healing grew following an automobile injury 20
years ago after which she began receiving massage and practicing yoga.
Continuing with yoga, while adding meditation, qi gong and expressive
therapies, Mandy incorporates her learnings from these disciplines into
the healing she does with others.
In addition to experiencing first hand the benefits of Reiki and
Therapeutic Touch, Mandy continually sees these benefits with her
clients.
Applying her expansive knowledge of the energetic healing system, her
passion, and ability to listen, Mandy can help guide you in your
healing journey.
