Welcome back to Active Life Health Clinic's January 2008 newsletter.
I don't like New Year's resolutions for this reason...About
the time that you stop wishing people a Happy New Year, is usually
about the time that you stop following your New Year's resolutions and
go back to old habits. For me, the beginning of a new year is a
time to reflect on the past year and what did and didn't work for
me. It is a time to consciously choose to do those things that
benefit me and others around me, and avoid those things that are
negative. BUT, I don't call them "New Year's Resolutions" because
I believe that it should be a yearlong, lifelong process.
If you want a fresh start, think about a detoxification program.
It needn't be scary or difficult, but it will help you to start anew
after an excessive holiday season (or year). Read below for more
information on this.
Too busy to get your acupuncture
treatment? Ask us about how we can send a Registered Acupuncturist to
your office to treat you on your break at work. For more
information, contact us at office@activetcm.com, 604-783-2846, or check out our website at www.activelife-mobile.com.
And as a short note for ways that you can give to more worthy causes without breaking your bank, check out these websites:
- Free Rice:
Test and expand your vocabulary while donating rice to the hungry
through the United Nations World Food Program. It's free to you
as donations are made by the advertisers on the site.
- Kiva:
Help entrepreneurs around the world by choosing to loan as little as
$25 through this not-for-profit organization. The lender pays
back the loan to Kiva and you get your money back to either loan to
someone else or use for yourself. The risk is low for you, the
investment can be minimal, and the benefits are huge to someone who can
use the help! Choose your own entrepreuner or if you would like
to join in to help the woman I am sponsoring, click here .
Happy New Year!

Detoxify for a New You This New Year
Here's my new favourite quote:
"If
you want to know your past, look into your present condition. If
you want to know your future, look into your present actions."
- Do you live in the city?
- Do you wear makeup, brush your teeth, shampoo, wash,
use lotions? Are some of the ingredients listed on those products
things that you can neither pronounce or identify? Or perhaps they
don't even list their ingredients--also not a good sign.
- Do you sometimes eat processed foods? Junk foods?
- Do you sometimes use intoxicants such as alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs?
- Do you work in a "sick building"? (Wondering what "sick building" is? Click here)
- Do either of these images look familiar to you for your holiday indulgences?
-

- Do you do anything to help minimize your toxic risk and improve your health?
If no, then consider that you are exposed to thousands of chemicals that can impact your health.
If yes, then do you make sure that
you also support your body in a healthy fashion when you cleanse?
This is especially important during the winter months as it is
normally a time when our bodies are meant to store and build, not
cleanse and eliminate.
While I often recommend spring
cleansing for a detoxification program, after the indulgences of the
Christmas and New Year's holidays, January is another suitable time,
but the program changes with the season.
Ask us about our one of our three customized detoxification programs
that includes acupuncture, far infrared sauna, nutrition, and
supplements. Also, check out this article from Dr. Whitaker on
far infrared sauna use.
